Intelligent DG controller for reconfigurable power system

Description
The incorporation of advanced power electronic devices with appropriate sensing and control functions can transform the electric grid into a reconfigurable
power system where actions can be taken in microseconds. A collection of these devices would act like a network of high-speed valves that can instantaneously
control the flow of current through the entire grid and ensure high levels of reliability and quality in the power system. We propose to design a local
controller that can be embedded in the power electronic converters for distributed generation (DG) and flexible ac transmission (FACTS). This reactivity
at the device level will ensure a more timely reconfiguration response to events occurring in the grid than a method that depended on a request from a
central control center.
